Why does my outdoor unit shake or vibrate?

Over years of heat cycling, rubber mounts can harden, crack, or come loose, and once that happens the compressor's vibration transfers directly into the cabinet instead of being absorbed.

This kind of vibration tends to feel different from a loose pad or an off-balance fan: heavier, more concentrated, and often paired with a hum or a strain sound rather than a rattle. It's not something to diagnose by feel from outside the unit, and it's never something to open the cabinet and check yourself.
